• Press release: ENRICH in AFRICA – A new EU-Africa network, building capacity for European and African innovation actors, officially kicks-off activities

    ENRICH in Africa (EiA) – An online platform for supporting the EU-African Innovation Community officially kicked-off its activities in an online meeting in January. EiA, funded through the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme and coordinated by Steinbeis 2i in Germany, brings together many key stakeholders from the innovation landscape of Europe and Africa to address the needs for capacity development of incubators, accelerators, and entrepreneurs in both regions. The project aims to set-up a network of incubators and accelerators and build capacity for the delivery of quality services for European and African innovators as well as support the exchange of knowledge and co-creation activities between the two continents. The project will be extending the existing ENRICH network, also present in the USA, Brazil, and China, alongside the additional India network which also kicked off at the end of last year.   • Think Tanks in Africa: Bridging Knowledge, Policy and Practice

    This film is a part of a series that captures key lessons learned by African Think Tanks that participated in the Think Tank Initiative over the last 10 years. This video features interviews with staff members from Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Research Organization (STIPRO). The story captures the challenges and opportunities that think tanks face across East and West Africa in their efforts to achieve economic, social and political change. The Think Tank Initiative (TTI) helped to strengthen policy research institutions – think tanks – in 20 developing countries over 10 years through a mix of core funding and support for capacity development.   • What Is The New UN Technology Bank For?

    Interview with Ms Bitrina Diyamett, founding/executive director of the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Research Organization (STIPRO), Tanzania. The United Nations recently established a “technology bank” (TB) for least-developed countries (LDC). One of its aims is to strengthen the science, technology and innovation capacity of LDCs, including better management of intellectual property rights. This is part of the effort to ‘leave no one behind’ by the UN Agenda 2030.   • Inauguration Of The United Nations’ Technology Bank

    The Executive Director of STIPRO, Dr. Bitrina Diyamett, also a member of the Council of the United Nations' Technology Bank (TB) for Least Developed Countries (LDCs), spoke at the inaugural ceremony of the TB that took place on the 4th of June, 2018, at the TB's Secretariat premises based in Gebze, Turkey. The major objective of the UN Technology Bank for LDCs is to build the science, technology and innovation capacities of LDCs in an effort to leave no one behind by 2030.
